Why MDF

Why is MDF a good choice for your baseboard?

MDF is an engineered wood product made from wood fiber’s and resin, as MDF boards have a uniform density and thickness, they are easy to machine and finish. They have a smooth, flat surface making it ideal for laminating, painting, and veneering. MDF warps and swells less than particle board. For cabinetry, furniture, and shelving, MDF is an economical alternative to solid wood.

Cutting, drilling, and shaping are easy with good dimensional stability. MDF comes in various thicknesses and grades, including moisture-resistant and fire-resistant varieties. Due to its recycled wood fibers, MDF Board contributes less to deforestation and is an eco-friendly option. MDF indoors is considered safe due to its low level of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

WDI also offers Hook Strip Base boards as well as Hook Strip Casing.

Baseboards

If you are replacing your casings with Hook Strip Casings from WDI, you may wans to update your base boards as well. You still have the option of 26 standard finishes (MDF is offered in Primed or Bright White) or you can use our color match system to get exactly what you need to complete the updates on your home.

Door Casings

If you are replacing your baseboard and window casings, let’s not neglect the door casings! Just like the pre-assembled and custom factory finished window casings, we also offer pre-assembled door casings. All you need to do is submit the measurements of your doors as instructed on the pre-assembled door casing product page and we can provide you with the easiest, yet most professional factory finished door casings. You still have the option of 26 standard finishes or you can use our color match system to get the exact color you want.
